Attend, listen, learn, comment. This tortoise race is crawling ahead. Participate in the process to help shape Freeland's responsible, managed future development.

Dear interested citizens,

On August 28th, 2007 the Island County Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing on the adoption of the Freeland Sub Area Plan and the designation of Freeland as a Non-Municipal Urban Growth Area. The hearing will be held at 7:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church Gymnasium in Freeland.

The evening will begin with a presentation by Planning and Community Development staff and BHC Consultants. This will be followed by an opportunity for the public to provide the Planning Commission with comments on the proposal. The Sub Area Plan, Draft Environmental Impact Statement and other supporting documents are available at the Freeland Library, on the Department’s webpage (www.islandcounty.net/planning/freeland/docs.htm), or in Coupeville at the Planning Department counter at the County Courthouse. If you would like an electronic copy of the materials we are more than happy to provide a CD. Hard copies are also available but at a cost of 25 cents a page.

We look forward to seeing you on August 28th.
