I am an Oak Harbor resident and Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Island County. I recently attended the orientation for the forum focus groups held on February 7. I participated in the Affordable Housing focus group with 3 Freeland community members. My interest is to assist Freeland residents in their planning efforts to ensure all who work in the community can afford housing in the community. I have 17 years of experience in affordable housing to share, but as far as I know, no one from the Freeland community has stepped forward to take leadership of this focus group. I know there are many interested in ensuring the proper mix of housing in your community but someone who lives in the community needs to step forward and provide leadership. I challenge all of you who read this to consider contacting Mike Dolan to volunteer.
